Care & Maintenance
The first few days in the life of your driveway are crucial. Asphalt has a 60-day curing process and, therefore, special consideration should be taken during the first season.
There are many precautions that you can take to ensure that your driveway lasts well into the future. To take the best possible care of your new surface:
|• Do not drive on your new driveway for two to three days.
• Do not park on the asphalt during the hottest part of the day.
• Keep motorcycles, bike stands, boat jacks, and other sharp objects off the surface.
|• Do not turn your steering wheel when your car is stopped.
• Use plywood under the tires of large parked items, including campers and boats, to disperse the weight.
Using a quality sealcoat increases the life and appearance of your driveway. Sealcoating your driveway locks in the existing oils, thereby keeping the asphalt flexible and reducing cracking. It is very important that you use only a quality sealcoat. We recommend sealcoating your new driveway at any point beyond 60 days after installation.
